Do people really get contact lenses to turn their eyes brown? Yes, and for different reasons. Sometimes it might be someone who has dark brown eyes, and they simply want lighter brown. Sometimes it will be someone with light colored eyes like blue or green, and they want to try something different. Whatever the reason, brown contact lenses do exist and if you are here to find out about them, let’s see if we can break it down for you.
You will need a prescription to get brown contact lenses for yourself, regardless if you are going to have them help with your vision or not. Many people getting brown contact lenses will be getting some sort of vision correction on them, so just get your standard prescription and show it whether it be online, or if you have to take it locally to whomever you are buying the brown contact lenses from.
There are certain guidelines that come with buying colored contacts, and if you already wear contacts the same will apply. We never advise sleeping in contacts, but there are some that will if the eye care specialist tells them they can, that’s up to you.
You might have never bought colored contacts before, and that’s fine, but you still need to plan on knowing what you are getting yourself into. Know why you want the contacts first, and you’ll be off to the right steps after that. Are you going to get the colored contacts for every day use, or just for a few parties here and there? Are you going to want to wear them for long periods? If so, look for the tinted extended wears, if not, then you can go with theatrical or costume colored contacts and wear them for a few hours at a time. It makes it a lot easier to buy contacts if you know why and what you are going to use them.
Picking out the exact color that you want is another story. It’s okay if you plan on buying a few colors, but not everyone has the money to do that. Figure out what colored eyes you want to have when everything is said and done, and then work backwards. Do you want them to be lightly tinted, which will seem more natural? Or do you want your eyes to look out of this world and have everyone staring at you? All good questions, that should definitely be answered before you go any further.
Get some nice green contact lenses, or even red contacts or black contacts for the extra cool effects. Whatever the reason, you should be okay with paying a little extra to know you got the best quality because one of the last things you want or need is some sub-par contacts in your eyes messing them up. If you’ve ever worn your contacts to long, or when your eyes were dry you’ll know that quality is better than quantity when it comes to these types of situations.
So you want to change your eye color? Great! Now what? Do you want to change it every day, or just for a costume, maybe Halloween? What color do you want? Do you want a natural look or something supernatural? A plain color like blue or green, or a crazy color like red or yellow? These are all questions that might be running through your head when you figure out that you want new colored contacts, plus many more. It depends on if you’ve ever bought them before or if you are new to the idea.
There are three types of colored contacts that I’ve personally used in my life. The slightly tinted was my first experience with any color on my contacts and I got those just so I could find my contacts in the case, or if I dropped them. There was a time I dropped my contact in between my car seats when I first started using them and if they had not been colored I’m not sure I would have been able to find them. Just having that slight tint can make a big difference, especially if you have really bad vision. You wouldn’t want to have to use glasses to find your contacts!
The second type I used was actually just to bring a slightly different color to my eyes. I have light brown eyes so I thought it would be cool to make them green so I bought some acuvue 2 colored green contacts and wore them every once in a while. I got a lot of attention and my friends, coworkers and family all thought it was pretty cool. I actually had some people I know ask about them specifically and buy the same kind.
It was pretty cool but I didn’t keep wearing them because it just wasn’t worth it eventually to me. I still have a prescription for them and buy them for special occasions or anytime I’m feeling bored. I really recommend them for single people that want a good conversation starter because people usually do notice them and might ask if they are real, etc.
The third kind I’ve used, and put a lot more use to is the colored contact lenses for costume parties. You can find really any color and I’ve gone through many of them, from red, yellow, silver, white and a few different famous designs like vampires and Darth Maul. These are really popular during Halloween and make a good addition to any costume by bringing it up a notch.
